DIVINING ROD

 

Source diminished to mere trickle

Hushed up gurgles imitating laughter

Silent energy of nature stirring

Restive soul to inmost depths

 

Winding idly downstream from elsewhere

Meandering aimless flow off course

 Waylaid river of no return

Twisted fate around next bend

 

Soil that once absorbed rainfall

To replenish wasteland has been

Stripped away no taproots stemming

Against infinite powers of nature

 

Precipitation now gushes undeterred over

Barren earth standing its ground

Grimy sediment rock crystals exposed
