Right-Wing NutCases/Playland At The Beach

One day after I closed the door
on the right-wing nutcases,
I bought Lawrence Ferlinghetti’s
“A Coney Island of the Mind.”
I cannot help those people any longer,
I cannot even understand those people.
I need a real mentor of my own
and will waste less time
with the mental dregs
of cerebral society.
Arguing with a barking dog
is arguing with a barking dog
and dogs have vocabularies
of their own unknown to me.
I shall call my works
“Playland at the Beach”
for I too have been there
before it closed and it did close,
laughs and all and seafoam too.
