Parting shots?

Category: Poem of the Day

Imagining the sun shall not rise in the morning

And the stars in protest won’t yield to the dawning

‘Twas decreed that the heavens surrender their wonder

Before infinite night descends or we’re put asunder.

Blind the rage, now blind with fear; ignorance, blind, I do not hear

Words reflecting other worlds, twixt tears hold fast, hold dear!

Non-existent, muted, senseless; set adrift and numbed by pain

Altruistic sacrifice; for whom, for what and without gain?

Bring on the day and banish at night sham terrors from our head

Untangled heart, heal that wounded soul of secrets ere love is dead.

But looking only to the light; seeking truth from truth within.

And soft; cast not true friendship out wherein there hides no sin?
