Rosebud

“Rosebud” was previously published in the book “When the Body Calls“, Writers and Readers, 1999. The soundtrack is from the CD “Living It!.
Like a tight wrapped rosebud
shy to Jack’s frosty fingers
beneath each layer of petals
falling away,
I am oblivious to all the signs
along the fast lane
as if I know secretly
some other route.
Beneath, behind,
around, beyond
the arrows
pointing down the road
to annihilation
I am poised wide open to feel
the sun upon my petals.
But they simply wither and
are trampled on.
But like a tight wrapped rosebud
forever begging
to be explored
singing sweetly
to the bee
about my honey pots
stored in unexplored pathways.
I am anxious
to receive a visitor.
Deep within my chambers
a placid lake
reflecting the divine image
of my soul,
rippling with the rhythm eternal
is still wet.
Dew drops individually collected
each morning
lap along the shores
in the evening,
inviting you to be anointed.
