TICKING TIME BOMB
by charles frederickson

If lies got any more
Honest theyÍd be unbelievably surreal
Cooked up tenderized suet concoctions
Swallowing leftover false truths whole

Queasy bellyache acute gastric distress
Pain in the assumed guilt
Feigned innocence oaths committing perjury
Grievous sin justifications rarely convince

Blowtorch peeling off hypocritical layers
Faded enamel coating chipped away
Spitfire outburst restraint on hold
Tamperproof matters of fact verified

Battened down hatches dire straits
Disjunctive thoughts hiding behind mendacity
Nebulous guarded self gone overboard
Caution stumbling over consequential fibs

MemoryÍs fixative loosening firm grip
Opaque fabrications slipping into oblivion
Trust growing impatient misled astray
Credibility gap teetering on edge
